I was seeking more knowledge,
More words to explain,
How living this moment,
Can be chalk full of pain,
How suffering happens,
Not just to oppress,
But rather to sharpen,
Uplift us to best.
Nothing was coming,
Presenting itself,
Until then it happened,
Stealing words from my mouth.
The ultimate test,
To welcome, accept,
Or to rail against,
The injustice of less.
Left with only the truth,
That we live and we die,
And that one step beyond,
Is where we all find “I”.
She passed and we went,
Through the motions of life,
Us boys and our mother,
Our dad and his wife.
And where I expected,
To only find black,
Unexpectedly waiting,
Life’s pathway to back.
Back to myself,
Before all the masks,
Before all the careful,
The fear and the lack.
The knowledge I wanted,
Came rushing to me,
Awaken and know,
That we’ve always been free.
We come from that freedom,
Will return to it soon,
And in the “now” meantime,
Our work is to tune.
Tune into the knowledge,
That suffering tests,
That grief-fear-emotion,
The thresholds to best.
Our lessons await,
In that which we dread,
So we can remember,
Get right with our head.
We come from awareness,
To that we’ll return.
But to forget our true nature,
Is Hellfire, the burn.
Our nature is joy,
Is bliss in this life,
Our lifetime of learning,
Transcendance of strife.
— Mama —
You gave me life,
A collection of days,
And through your passing,
I found some new ways,
To see and to conquer,
To feel, to know.
This path is of wonder,
In forests we grow.
Forests of tests,
Of costumes and tricks,
To see them as such,
Dismantle the bricks,
Of conditions and rules,
Of right and of wrong,
Transcending duality,
Recontextualize strong.
The thing I feared most,
Held the treasure and truth,
My life changed forever,
A returning to youth.
To knowing and feeling and rising above,
To now understanding,
The journey to love.
This all disappears,
Except for the truth.
We all intersect,
Your absence, the proof.
